It's called a Soul Device. I'm still not exactly sure how they came about, but they're one of the few things that'll actually hurt the monsters I mentioned.
Anyway, they take different forms, depending on the wielder and their soul. In my case, they're a pair of wings.

Kind of. Like I said, the Eclipses form around people with really strong emotions-- usually negative. They can drag innocent people into them, and that's why we have to take care of them before that happens.
Because for people who can't fight like that? It's definitely not a good thing to be pulled in.
So what causes these... anomalies where you're from? I know you said strong emotion, but strong emotion obviously exists in my world, too. [not from him but you know] And we have nothing like that.
