It'll have to do. As long as you don't mind that I've coughed a ton into my palm.

[ And she grasps his hand with no hesitation whatsoever. Likely because she's also sick but honestly, this might just be how she is. ]

Gonna have to try harder than that.

[it's only because they're both sick that they can do this]

[he wordlessly links his fingers with hers, smiling all the while]

She does appear to be in better spirits, at least. ]

Think you can rest a little now?

Yeah.

[running his thumb over her knuckles]

Think you can, too?

No promises.

[ She'll be honest, the idea of falling back into nightmares just does not sound appealing to her right now. But she's also exhausted, so it's up in the air as to which one will win out. ]

If that's the case, I'll stay awake as long as you do.

Akira, no. You're drained. I've been sleeping all day, anyway.

[purrtagonist]

Do you ever reach that point where you're too tired to sleep. . .

[flyingsolos]

Yeah, but it's usually from idol stuff.

[ why are they suffering like this. ]

[purrtagonist]

That's where I'm at right now, only it's not from idol stuff. It's from sick stuff.

[flyingsolos]

Maybe try closing your eyes and see where it takes you? I'd sing you a lullaby, but my voice isn't the greatest right now.

But if I close my eyes I won't be able to gaze into your eyes anymore.

[oh smooth]

[flyingsolos]

My eyes are probably all bloodshot, so maybe I'll close mine too.

[ She doesn't need him staring into them, smooth operator or not. ]

[purrtagonist]

Nah. Your eyes are still beautiful to me.

[stop him, because he's saying that while brushing the fingers of his other hand against her chin]

[ Clearly getting sick has not stopped Akira Kurusu from somehow managing to stay dangerous. ]

I can't believe you're this smooth when you're suffering from some version of the flu.

[ She sounds both awed and amused, but she also isn't pulling back. ]

I owe you one or two for the lines you pulled out during our first date.

[he does, in fact, still remain extremely dangerous]

I think you pretty much closed that gap today.

[ Not just the flirtatious comments, but by being there when she hadn't even realized she'd needed him. ]

[purrtagonist]

. . . good.

[and despite his protesting, as his hand falls from her cheek, his own eyes slip shut]

[ Honestly, if this means he's actually going to be able to rest with this fever, Rion's all for it.

As he'd done before, she brushes her thumb over his hand, expression softening. It's fine, his eyes are closed.

She won't say anything just yet, though, waiting to see if he actually falls asleep. ]

[CONTRARY TO WHAT HE JUST SAID, the moment he closes his eyes and really relaxes with her hand in his own. . . he drifts off soundly into sleep]

[ ... Oh, good.

Rion's smile is a weary one, and she at least understands that she's probably not going to sleep anytime soon, but it's fine. She can watch over him like this, hand still grasping his. ]
