It got really bad for some people. [Kind of goes without saying, but...] I'm only just starting to feel normal again, but we should seriously consider ourselves lucky.
[Ann's smile hitches wider as she nods, followed by a deep breath to prepare herself.]
Alright, bear with me... it's kind of been coming and going, but— I know Carmen when I feel her.
[She closes her eyes for a brief moment, that fist pulling tighter before she says:]
I hear you, Carmen—
[And while there are no foes to attack, a figure emerges from the pillar of blue flame that appears just in front of Ann— whose clothing has suddenly changed, as well.]
[Ann's face suddenly pales beneath her mask, ghost-white.]
No, of course not! This is just— it happens when I summon her!
[She crosses her arms over her chest in such a way that it covers up most of what's being shown— she'd hated this outfit at first, sure, and it's grown on her since then, but it's still embarrassing when people point out what it looks like.
[There's no verbal response, but Carmen does appear to be preening. Ann's own face is flushed, even as she drops her hands away from her ears.]
She's not much of a talker. I mean, I guess I've never considered whether she would be or not before, but— she's me, so I guess that makes sense. [Ann can do all the talking for them. She exhales slowly.] It feels good to have her back, but with our powers cutting in and out the way they have been, there's no telling how long it'll last... I'd just started to get used to not having her, although I'd rather have her than not.
Yeah, I know what you mean. My power's pretty much the same when it comes to flying, but... I really missed it. Flying using a part of me, and my own will... you know?

No kidding— that bug was so nasty, it made it hard to keep up with everyone.
[Even Rion, who is definitively one of her favorite people here in the Circle.]
Much better though, thanks. I missed out on the worst of it. What about you?

[ She's already making a face. ]
I got over it once the fever broke without anything else getting worse, but it's taken way too long to get my energy levels back up to normal.

-- But more importantly, you wanted to talk?

[She hasn't forgotten! In fact:]
Remember awhile back, when I told you that if we ever got in touch with our powers again, I would introduce you to Carmen?
[She loosely closes her hand into a fist, laying it over her heart.]
I can feel her again— in here.

[ Rion lets out a short, excited squeal, now bouncing on her heels. ]
I definitely want to meet her!

[ And she's definitely a little stunned to see her, but also--
What the heck is Ann wearing? ]
Are you two some kind of... incredible dominatrix duo?

The whip is just a coincidence!]

... I mean, you look great, but that's definitely some side effect.
[ Poor Ann. ]
no subject
Uh, yeah— I mean, it happens to all of us. Not exactly like this, of course, Ryuji and Akira aren't running around wearing—
[She pales. The mental image she just conjured for herself is horrifying.]
... nevermind.

[ Rion's going there. ]
no subject
[Ann's eyes go wide.]
No, nope, I'm not listening!
[Her pink-gloved hands are clapped over her ears now. Carmen, meanwhile, seems amused, though otherwise unfazed.]
no subject
Okay, okay, no visualizing. But it's nice to meet you at last, Carmen!

[Carmen is her ride-or-die.]

It's the fact that it's yours, when you come right down to it. When you lose that, even for a little while... it's like a part of you is missing.

You know, you and Kou understand Akira and the rest of us in a way nobody else really can.
