I don't think it was entirely coincidental. Astoria-san said that she could tell when a world was in trouble-- and I think when she sent us, it was already on the brink of it. We just had some time to get established first, even when there were already signs.

It's definitely not coincidental, but I think it means we can expect the worlds we end up with to...be like this more often than not.
