[It hardly seems to matter. Both are interesting and baffling in their own way. But why not start with the weapon, before getting to the monsters made to be slain by it?]
It's called a Soul Device. I'm still not exactly sure how they came about, but they're one of the few things that'll actually hurt the monsters I mentioned.
Anyway, they take different forms, depending on the wielder and their soul. In my case, they're a pair of wings.
[All right. It counts as an explanation, to be sure, but Connor already has follow-up queries encircling his mind, even as she speaks. He chooses from the lot.]
And is an ability like this... common where you're from?
[Wrenching a weapon from one's soul -- it sounds almost poetic, even if his more practical line of thinking is screaming irrational.]
And what sort of monsters need to be slain by that specific kind of weapon?
[So much of this still sounded utterly fantastical. But he's taking her word for it (he has no reason not to), and can fill in the smaller details by asking other relevant queries later.]
[Unbelievable, yes. But he’d not disparage this information she was generously giving him by labelling it “crazy”.]
...Though I really don’t know where to even begin, regarding what to ask next. [But he’s trying.] Are these… Greeds a threat to regular people? The ones that can’t utilize your kind of power.
Kind of. Like I said, the Eclipses form around people with really strong emotions-- usually negative. They can drag innocent people into them, and that's why we have to take care of them before that happens.
Because for people who can't fight like that? It's definitely not a good thing to be pulled in.
So what causes these... anomalies where you're from? I know you said strong emotion, but strong emotion obviously exists in my world, too. [not from him but you know] And we have nothing like that.
[He realizes this is a question that might not have a real answer, but he asks anyway.]
[Duly noted. Connor is a curious and sometimes nosy android, but he also knows when to not push for more information -- when he's outside of the interrogation room, at least.]

No need for apologies. I've come to expect oddities when it comes to other worlds and experiences at this point.
[He's just glad to listen, happy to fill the gaps in his knowledge and to quell his innate curiosities.]

[ Yep. ]

Said response is:]
Sorry.
[wat]
Can you explain that to me in further detail?

The weapon, if you don't mind.

Involving these... monsters?

... Well, a lot happened. I ended up getting a really rude pep-talk that made me stand up and fight, and that's when my ability came about.
[ stop analyzing her, Connor, gosh!! ]

[ Understatement. ]
They usually come from these kinds of... dungeons that crop up, brought about by people's strong emotions. Those are called Eclipses.
... Sorry, I know it sounds crazy.

...The sort of complicated you don't want to speak about?

[ That time is not now. ]

Some other time, then. May I ask something else?
